13 December 2008 is drawing near fast and my family is ecstatic at the very thought of seeing people being touched by the Spirit of Christmas – Christ. My children are head over heals and keep on asking Mommy, Daddy how many more sleeps before we give. The countdown in my house has become even fiercer as we approach two more sleeps and observe God reaching out His hand of mercy to touch people whom He considers precious in His eyes. The joy-packed expectation that my kids display as they anticipate this day is breath-taking and, I must say, contagious. I find myself feeling my heart jumping up and down within myself as I wait with bated breath to see the 13th. It is an awesome experience to have.

This morning as I was praying God’s blessings upon the gifts, hampers and clothing that we are about to distribute, I realized afresh that the perfect model of what we are imitating is our Lord Jesus Christ. And while many people celebrate this season, it is worth acknowledging that Jesus indeed is the reason for this season. When times of gift exchange pass and economies continue to show indications of recess, remember that the gift of Christ remains. That is what is very assuring of the gift, Christ, he remains beyond Christmas.

To many today, Christmas is just a holiday – a stressful one at that.  It’s a time for buying gifts that didn’t need to be bought out of a budget that couldn’t afford them.  It’s a time for squeezing par-ties and extra events into a schedule that was already too full.  It’s a time in which many feel rushed and overcommitted when what they really need is to slow down and enjoy the season.

Christmas should be a time of peace, not of fear and unrest. A time of reflection to ponder on the great strides you have made this year. And if all you see is one achievement; take the liberty to celebrate that because that is the beginning of greater things. Continue in the discipline of focus and being relentless. If all you see when you look back is a lot of pain and not much success, you may be in transition and it is worth remembering that every birth experience comes with tremendous pain. But beyond that is joy indescribable, so keep pushing and don’t give up. The very reason that you are still alive today is evidence that there is much to live for. The episode of your life is not over until God says it is over. Don’t stop believing, don’t stop pushing boundaries, the best is yet to come.

To those who may have been to hell and back, with your souls sifted with incomprehensible pain; remember that it takes fire to refine gold and bring out its brilliance. The tests of your life could not be allocated to anyone else but you. You are uniquely you and when your gold is fully refined you will come out ok. Your portion, which is laid aside for you, is that of victory, joy and abundance. You have come too far to give up now.

May this season remind us all to be thankful. The word of God teaches that there are many afflictions upon the righteous, but God delivers us from all of our trouble and none of our bones are broken. So remember to celebrate the life that God gave you in happy times and in turbulent seasons. Through it all you will be kept in shape.

I wish you all a happy Christmas and a year full of expectation, targets, faith, the will to succeed and every manner of good work. May yours be a full measure, pressed down, shaken together and overflowing as you walk in the light of God’s favor. Strengthen one another and remember that the lines of prosperity are fallen unto you in pleasant places – of productivity, innovation, wellbeing, wealth and good success.
