Any tips for MMA sparring when you have braces?
When sparring MMA I've been wearing a mouthguard as you'd expect, but I have braces and the pressure of the mouthguard makes my gums quite sore for days afterwards, and taking hits to the mouth with 4 oz gloves makes it even worse.
So does anyone have any advice on how to make wearing a mouthguard more comfortable and safe when you have braces?
I am using the type where you boil them, and then mould it to the shape of your teeth.

The best mouthguard you can find is one that you get specially made from your dentist. They protect better, and since they are specifically made for your mouth... they're more comfortable and don't slip. That's where your mouth is getting hurt from... the braces 'catch' on the mouthguard and shift when hit. The guards your dentist makes are a little more expensive... but completely worth it.
