Is there anyone else out there that thinks Dana White is a selfish, childish pr ick? Is he ruining the UFC?
I personally think that Dana White is going to be the one that destroys not only the UFC, but maybe even MMA as a whole. I hope Affliction grows bigger and stronger and puts Dana White back in diapers crying for mommy wondering "what did I do wrong?" For starters, quit being a bitch. Stop holding grudges against fighters because they didn't agree with what you wanted them to do. MMA is a business, and like all businesses you need to think about the company, not your personal vendettas. I am so disgusted by his lack of professionalism and respect towards fighters that would destroy him. I would love to see him get in the cage with any of the fighters that he has disrespected and or stabbed in the back. He is a selfish coward, it's plain and simple. He needs to stop putting his own wants in the way of the greatest sport ever or he WILL destroy it!
OK, first off, I don't think Affliction is going to be around much longer. Its taken them forever to get this next show off the ground, and they've had to postpone it numerous times. They are WAY overpaying their fighters and are operating heavily in the red. Oh, and there's been all the stuff that has come to light with Couture's split from them: fraud convictions, intimidation tactics, etc. These are not the world's best business people.
Second, I do agree - to an extent - that Dana can overdo it at times. He needs to get over some of these personal vendettas with fighters he seems to love and concentrate on growing the UFC. However, the simple fact is that MMA is growing by leaps and bounds. There are a hundred hungry guys out there to take the place of every fighter in the UFC right now. So its a hedged bet when he puts these guys' feet to the fire.
Let's not forget, Dana White almost single handedly put the UFC and MMA on the map of mainstream America. He has not publicly stated why he cut the AKA guys aside from ranting on their management's unwillingness to work with him. The only particular incident he pointed to was Cain Velasquez's desire to cut standard language from the UFC contracts.
Fitch is the only person saying that its because they didn't want to sign over lifetime rights. Quite frankly, Fitch is a fighter, not a businessman or attorney, so I'm not convinced that was really the issue. That might be the issue his management presented to him, but I want to hear from everyone before I make up my mind on this particular incident.
After all this time and all that Dana has done for the UFC and MMA, don't you think he deserves the benefit of the doubt? There may well be other issues going on here that we haven't heard about - remember that ridiculous contract dispute that Brandon Vera got himself into? All because he had a boxing promoter who didn't understand MMA. And he was out of the ring for over a year because of it.
